Vision Zambia Initiative has commended President Hakainde Hichilema for his commitment to amending the Zambian Constitution, citing its importance in enhancing women’s participation in governance.
Speaking to Mafken News, the organization’s Executive Director, Namutula Sindila, highlighted that addressing constitutional lapses could create opportunities for greater inclusion of women in decision-making roles.
However, Zambia Wake-Up Party (ZAWAPA) President Howard Kunda has criticized government’s focus on constitutional amendments, questioning the urgency and motives behind the move.
President Hichilema, speaking on Monday during the launch of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, underscored the need for constitutional reforms as a means to improve women’s representation in governance positions.
