Government To Fight Child Hunger By Increasing Funding Towards Feeding Programs

Agriculture Minister Reuben Mtolo Phiri has called for concerted efforts aimed at overcoming child hunger and malnutrition.
Mr. Phiri said the government wants to increase funding for children’s feeding programs throughout the country in order to end hunger among children.
The minister was speaking in Lusaka during the launch of the ‘Enough’ Food Program by World Vision. He also emphasized the need to improve food and nutrition policies to ensure they are robust and adaptable to emerging challenges.
Speaking earlier, National Food and Nutrition Commission Executive Director Dr. Muntanga Mopani said the latest survey revealed that a majority of Zambians are not consuming enough food, including carbohydrates, proteins, and many other essential nutrients, and that the status quo must change.
World Vision National Director Mac Nosbach pledged commitment to collaborating with various stakeholders to build food security.
