26-YEAR-OLD MAN ELECTROCUTED DURING ALLEGED CABLE THEFT ATTEMPT IN MUFULIRA

A 26-year-old man has been electrocuted while allegedly attempting to steal ZESCO cables from a transformer at sub-station 212 in Mufulira District’s New Ndeke Village area.
Copperbelt Police Commanding Officer, Peacewell Mweemba has confirmed the incident to Mafken FM Radio.
Mr Mweemba discloses that the incident occurred between 20:00 of August, 8 and 06:00 of August 9, 2023.
He adds that the deceased was found dead at the scene with severe burns on his body and has been identified as Castrol Chinyama.
He further reveals that officers also recovered a cutter at the site which is believed to have been used in the attempted theft.
The Police Chief has since disclosed that body of the deceased was deposited in Ronald Ross hospital mortuary.
