LUAPULA PROVINCE MINISTER DERRICKY CHILUNDIKA DISMISSED AND ARRESTED

President Hakainde Hichilema has dismissed Luapula Province Minister, Derrick Chilundika with immediate effect.

President Hichilema has terminated the appointment of Mr Chilundika pursuant to Article 270 of the Constitution of Zambia.

According to a statement issued by State House Chief Communications Specialist Clayson Hamasaka, the President has since thanked the Former Minister for the service rendered to the nation and wished him well for his future endeavors.

And following his dismissal, the former Luapula Province Minister has since been arrested by Police in Lusaka for carrying out mining activities without a Licence contrary to Section 12(1)(3) of the Mines and Minerals Act Number 11 of 2015.

Speaking in a statement availed to Mafken FM ,Police Deputy Public Relations Danny Mwale says it is alleged that Mr. Chilundika , while acting together with others, between 4th and 13th January, 2023, did mine 23 tonnes of Sugilite Mineral Ore in Chembe District without a Licence.

Mr. Mwale has disclosed that he is detained in Police custody waiting to be formally charged.
