Dandy Crazy Has Died

Wesley Chibambo, widely known as Dandy Crazy, has passed away from injuries sustained in a road traffic accident.

Renowned for his distinctive music style and significant impact on Zambia’s entertainment industry, the artist was pronounced dead at 01:42 hours this morning.

The tragic accident occurred on New Year’s Eve along the Great North Road between Kabwe and Kapiri. Four individuals lost their lives instantly at the scene, while Mr. Chibambo sustained severe injuries and was rushed to the University Teaching Hospital (UTH) for urgent medical attention.

UTH Adult Hospital public relations officer, Nzeba Chanda, confirmed that Mr. Chibambo underwent emergency surgery following the accident but remained in a critical state despite the efforts of medical staff.

“An emergency operation was performed later that day. Unfortunately, his condition did not improve, and he was certified dead at 01:42 hours this morning. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and the public as they mourn this loss,” Ms. Chanda stated.

Dandy Crazy was celebrated for his hit track Don’t Kubeba, which became a symbol of the 2011 general elections.

Hailing from the Copperbelt Province, the artist earned several accolades in recognition of his contributions to cultural heritage through music.
