Presidential Motorcade Sweeper Dies

A 40-year-old police officer identified as Sergeant Mike Mumba of State Lodge in Lusaka has tragically died after his motorbike collided with a motor vehicle. He sustained severe head injuries after being hit by a Toyota Allex driven by 43-year-old Charles Tembo.
The accident reportedly occurred when Mr Tembo, while driving his vehicle, made a turn without exercising due care and attention, colliding with the motorbike, which had the right of way.
Police spokesperson Rae Hamoonga has confirmed to Mafken news that, the incident occurred today around 09:10 hours at the junction of Mosi-O-Tunya and Nyatwa Roads in Lusaka.
Mr. Hamoonga says Sergeant Mumba passed away while receiving medical attention at Maina Soko Medical Centre.
Mr Hamoonga also disclosed that, involved was a Toyota Allex, registration number ACT 6444, driven by Mr Tembo, who complained of chest pains, headaches, and back pain following the accident while his Toyota Allex vehicle was extensively damaged.
He says following the incident Mr. Tembo is detained while he awaits to be charged with Causing Death by Dangerous Driving.
