DEC ARRESTS FORMER PF SG DAVIES MWILA

The Drug Enforcement Commission – DEC has arrested former Patriotic Front Secretary General, Davies Mwila, for being in possession of property reasonably suspected to be proceeds of crime, contrary to section 71 of the forfeiture of Crimes Act.

DEC has not disclosed the nature of the property behind the arrest.

But his lawyer Kambwa Aongola says the action by the commission is an afterthought meant to force the party to disclose its source of campaign funding used during the August 12, 2021 polls.

Mr. Mwila however maintains that no amount of pressure will force him to disclose the source of funding, hence all efforts by the commission may hit a snug.

And Mr. Mwila has also been interrogated by the Joint Investigations Team over a portion of land located in Lusaka’s woodlands area where the PF wanted to build a Secretariat.

In a related development, former Lands Minister Jean Kapata was equally interrogated by the Joint Investigations Team on undisclosed charges.
