OVER 300 JOBS COMING TO MUFULIRA

A private investor has announced plans to create over Three Hundred permanent and pensionable jobs in the mining sector in Mufulira District on the copper belt Province.
The firm based in the United Arab Emirates has further announced plans to inject over 200 million United States dollars into the setting up of a copper and colbalt processing plant in Mufulira.
Mufulira Mayor Tanaeli Kamanga has disclosed the development to Mafken FM radio today.
Mr. Kamanga says the firm, Blue Star Resources has expressed intrest to develop dump number one and two at the historical copper slag dumpsite at Mopani Copper Mines MCM.
Under the Joint Venture initiative with MCM, Blue Star Resources will among other things conduct a feasibility study into the processing of smelter slag that has been generated over the life of MCM Mufulira.
Blue star Resources is a subsidiary of Blue star Capital which is Headquartered in the UAE. The firm has presence in a number of countries around the World.
Mr. Kamanga adds that under it’s proposed investment in Mufulira, the intiative, Blue star Resources will install a state of the art plant in Mufulira and will extract colbalt concentrate and copper concentrate at the rich copper slug dump site.
Blue Star Resources has been involved in metal trading in Zambia for a number of years and has adopted a growth strategy for Zambia of downward integration in order to develop the country’s rich mineral resources starting with mineral processing.
The firm was incorporated in Zambia in 2017. It’s line of business is primarily in the resource sector. Blue Star company in conjunction with their technical partner, Nature Mining Resources NMR will be the project executors.
NMR has access to state of the art proprietary processing technology.
Blue Star Resources envisages to invest over 7 point 5 million United States dollars into the Mufulira community upon the mining firm signing a contract with MCM. As part of it’s Corporate Social Investment, Blue Star will use part of this money under community based projects through the local structures such as Community Social Responsibility that will be established with the relevant stakeholders.
This development means that each of the three constituencies in Mufulira District will receive 2 point 5 million United States dollars under the Corporate Social Responsibility Program CSRP that will be initiated by the firm.
The money under CSRP will be channelled to respective constituencies for various skills training and development programs to aid women and youths and also be used for various empowerment projects.
Mr. Kamanga says the firm will recruit over 300 youths to work at it’s project and the youths will be singled out from Mufulira.
