Government Refutes Interfering In The Findings On The UN Rapporteur On Freedoms

Information and Media Permanent Secretary has warned opposition political parties against painting a bad picture on the freedoms in Zambia to the international community emphasising that the Zambian people are currently enjoying their freedoms.
Mr. Kawana has reiterated that Zambia is a country based on the rule of law and Zambians are guaranteed of their freedoms as enshrined in the constitution of Zambia as opposed to the previous regime that did not respect the rights of the people.
Speaking when he featured on Mafken FM’s express chitchat, Mr. Kawana urged the opposition leaders to make concrete submissions to the UN rapporteur as opposed to painting a corrupt picture of the UPND government.
Meanwhile, Mr. Kawana has emphasised that government is not interfering in the research of the UN rapporteur, contrary to assertions that the UPND is sponsoring some individuals to appear before the rapporteur and give positive reports.
