Chililabombwe Council Dispels Claims On Awarding Grants To Beneficiaries That Did Not Apply

Chililabombwe Municipal Council had dispelled recent misleading reports circulating on social media that the local authority has awarded grants to 23 cooperatives that did not apply for funding.
Council Assistant Public Relations Manager Nambela Kyombela says the reports are false and do not represent the councils procedures and CDF guidelines when allocating funds to successful applicants.
She says the correct information is that the Local Authority on page 52 of the Auditors Generals report has been cited for awarding grants in April, 2023 amounting to K483, 480 to 23 Cooperatives which had not completed the required application forms.
Ms Kyombela however says from the council’s Records the 23 cooperatives are part of the 189 Clubs or groups that submitted applications for grants and 112 stemmed as successful applicants in block making, Village Banking, Fish Farming, Gardening, Chicken and Pig rearing , Tailoring among others.
She has assured members of the public that no grants or loans have been awarded to cooperatives or clubs that did not apply.
