UMUZ President Wisdom Ngwira Eyes Kankoyo Parliamentary Seat

United Mine-workers Union of Zambia (UMUZ) President Wisdom Ngwira, has announced his intention to run for Member of Parliament in Mufulira’s Kankoyo constituency in the upcoming 2026 general elections.
In an interview with Mafken News, Mr. Ngwira emphasized that Kankoyo is a mining-focused area, and he believes the community wants someone with deep knowledge of the industry to represent them.
He stated that the people of Kankoyo want him to represent them in Parliament because he has proven how much he understands the mining sector owing to his vast experience serving under the UMUZ leadership for 19 years now.
Mr. Ngwira plans to stand as an independent candidate, aiming to address the unique challenges and opportunities within the mining community.
