Government Urged To Invest More Into FISP Program Next Year

A Mufulira based farmer Peter Kumwenda has urged government to consider investing more in the Farmers Support Program-FISP next year – 2025.

Mr. Kumwenda says the number of beneficiaries of the program is too law as compared to the number of farmers that want to benefit and contribute to the country’s food basket.

He has noted that the mining sector that the country depends on for its sustainability is currently not performing well hence the need for the government to redirect most funds towards agriculture through the FISP program.

 

Mr.Kumwenda has also expressed disappointment over government’s failure to deliver the farming inputs on time. Calling on the government to start early preparations for the next farming season.
