Jerabos urged to Adopt Safety Measures to Prevent Fatal Accidents

A non governmental organisation Safety Foundation has embarked on an exercise of sensitising Artisanal Miners Commonly known as Jerabos on the importance of implementing safety measures as they conduct their operations in various dumpsites.How Child Waste pickers Support Family Finances - Naturenews.africa

Organisation Executive Director Yosam Nyirongo says the move taken by the organisation is aimed at reducing the number of accidents at dumpsites that have resulted in the loss of lives of many small scale miners on the Copperbelt Province and other parts of the country recently.

 

Mr.Nyirongo says his organisation intends to impact First Aid knowledge into Artisanal miners which will enable them save lives incase of an accident.

 

He also adds that there is need for the government and other stakeholders to come on board and help in supplying Personal Protective Equipment – PPE to the Artisanal Miners.
