Government To Tighten Laws Surrounding Illegal Charcoal Burning

Government has announced plans to regulate the production charcoal to mitigate the effects of climate change especially amid the ongoing drought.
Minister of Environment and green Economy says decisive steps are being taken to curb the illegal movement and trade of charcoal such as the stiffening of regulations to ensure that those involved in illegal charcoal production are brought to book.
The minister has further announced the temporally suspension on the issuance of cold wood permits for charcoal production in certain hotspot charcoal production districts.
Speaking in parliament during the question for answer oral session, Mr. Mposha also revealed that government is in the process of putting up new charcoal regulations which will designate specific areas for charcoal production in each province.
