The Pensions and Insurance Authority (PIA) has emphasized the need for reflection on the evolving pensions and social security landscape in the country.
Speaking at the annual pre-retirement workshop, PIA Deputy Registrar Goodson Kapaso highlighted that, historically, retirement planning largely fell under government responsibility. However, changing employment demographics now call for a shift in this approach.
Mr. Kapaso noted that the common advice to start saving for retirement from the first paycheck may be outdated, as a significant number of citizens may never receive a formal salary in their lifetime.
He has urged employees to look to the future with optimism, pointing to recent positive developments in the pensions industry.
