Heavy Rainstorm Damages Property In Mufulira District

Residents of Mufulira District on the Copperbelt Province have been left in distress following a heavy storm on Tuesday around 16:00 hours.
The storm ripped off the roofs of five houses in shinde ward Masumba farm area and five shops in the Central Business District CBD.
A resident talked to by Mafken News in the CBD area Kelvin Chongo described the aftermath, saying shards from the roofs shattered the windows of three parked vehicles.

Meanwhile Shinde Ward Councillor Teddy Chilufya has expressed concern over the widespread impact of the storm.
However, Mufulira District Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit officer Chipego Kalunga has urged the community to prioritize safety in construction.
Mr Kalunga further urged residents to hire professional contractors, stressing that many of the damaged structures were newly built and may not have adhered to safety standards.
