Their call comes in response to alarming statistics revealed by Kitwe District Health Director Dr. Francis Liywali, who reported that 110 women have died during childbirth over the past three years, contributing to a high maternal mortality rate in the area.

Speaking to Mafken News, the women emphasized the importance of regular health check-ups during pregnancy, noting that increased awareness and healthcare access are essential in addressing the district’s maternal health challenges.
