Mafken TV Chief Executive Officer Edward Mphande has urged government to consider tax waivers for private media houses amidst the current energy crisis being faced by the country.

Mr. Mphande says media houses are currently operating under difficult conditions due to load shedding thereby facing challenges when it comes to generating revenue.

He notes that it has become difficult for media houses to pay taxes on time and government should consider waiving tax penalties that are accompanied with delayed payments.

The CEO has also urged Government to start buying media space from private media houses as a way of supporting their businesses amidst the current energy crisis.

Meanwhile, speaking during his visit to Mafken TV and Mafken FM, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information and Media Thabo Kawana stated that government has already started putting in place measures that will ensure all private media houses continue running and be supported even in terms of power.
