The Zambia Medicines and Medical Supplies Agency (ZAMMSA) has initiated the distribution of over two million Long-Lasting Insecticide Nets (LLINs) across five provinces.

The nets are being delivered to health facilities in Luapula, Central, Southern, Eastern and Lusaka provinces over a three-week period.

ZAMMSA Senior Manager – Corporate Communications Bradley Chingobe says by distributing these nets directly to healthcare facilities, ZAMMSA aims to enhance accessibility and ensure every household can protect themselves from mosquito bites.

Mr. Chingobe adds that this initiative highlights the crucial role of preventive measures in combating malaria, which remains a significant public health threat, especially for children and pregnant women.

He further states that the effectiveness of LLINs in reducing malaria transmission is well-documented, therefore their widespread use is essential for achieving long-term health benefits in communities.
