Copperbelt Minister Urges Mines To Prioritize Locals In Contract Awarding

Copperbelt Minister Elisha Matambo has urged Mining companies to prioritize awarding contracts to Zambians and ensure that the local people are the first to be employed as they set up their mining firms.

Speaking during the official opening ceremony of Naipu Mining Machinery Zambia Plant in kalulushi district on the Copperbelt, Mr. Matambo urged mining firms to motivate their employees with improved salaries in order for their operations to succeed.

Mr. Matambo further described, the opening of the new Mine Machinery plant as a step in the right direction especially that President Hakainde Hichilema has created a conducive environment for business on the Copperbelt.

And Naipu Mining Machinery Zambia Limited Chairman Zheng Hao, says the mines presence in Zambia underscores its long term commitment to contributing towards the country’s economic progress.

Mr. Hao also  pledged to continue supporting the communities around. 

Meanwhile, Commerce Trade and Industry, Minister Chipoka Mulenga, stated that the establishment of Naipu Mining Machinery plant Zambia in the country will largely contribute to the nations development especially in Zambia’s plans of attaining the 3  million metric tonnes copper production by 2030.
