44-Year-Old Masaiti Man Arrested for Alleged Defilement of Minor

A 44-year-old man from Chumameno area in Masaiti District on the Copperbelt Province, identified as Mumba Tom, has been arrested for allegedly defiling a 10-year-old girl.
Copperbelt Police Commanding Officer Peacewell Mweemba confirmed to Mafken News that the incident occurred on 2nd October 2024, around 18:00 hours, in the same area.
Brief facts of the matter are that on the said date and time the victim was sent by her mother to a nearby makeshift shop to purchase matches and salt.
On her way back, she encountered the suspect, who asked her to buy three packets of corn snacks while he waited by the roadside. When she returned, the suspect allegedly took her to a nearby bush and defiled her.
Mr Mweemba reveals that the victim later informed her mother about the incident, who reported the matter to the police.
He has further revealed that the victim has been admitted to St. Dominic Hospital for medical attention.
