Confusions are boiling in the opposition United National Independent Party (UNIP) with two warring factions claiming legitimacy.

Yesterday, the Colonel Henry Muyoba led executive committee expelled 27 senior members from the party which included first republican president Dr. Kenneth Kaunda’s son Tiliyenji Kaunda.

But in a sharp turn of events, the Mulenga Mwiche led faction has rubbished the expulsion accusing the United Party for National Development (UPND) government of sponsoring the confusions.

Mr. Mwiche who is secretary general says the other faction is illegitimate and that it is acting against the court restraining order of July, 2021 which is still valid.

He told Mafken news that the Colonel Muyoba faction is only acting out of emotions wanting to claim leadership when not.
