The Coalition Against Illicit Alcohol has revealed that over sixty percent of adolescents in Zambia have tried illicit alcohol before the age of 17.
Coalition Chairperson Mariam Sidibe says as such, many of the youths in communities have become addicted thereby robbing them of their future potential.
She was speaking during the illicit alcohol abuse amongst youths review meeting in Lusaka.
Ms Sidibe further stated that the normalisation of alcohol consumption is an urgent threat to the nations’ future as it has impacted negatively on people’s health, social fabrics as well as the economic growth.
