Former President Edgar Chagwa Lungu has condemned the suspension of three judges from the Constitutional Court of Zambia by President Hakainde Hichilema.

The former President has described the suspensions as a sign of the country’s departure from its Democratic tenants.

Mr. Lungu has since challenged the law Association of Zambia to intervene into the matter and ensure that the judiciary is allowed to operate independently without interference from the executive.

Meanwhile, the former president has echoed his position of being on the 2026 general elections ballot paper.

Yesterday President Hakainde Hichilema suspended Anne Sitali, Justice Mungeni Mulenga and Justice Palan Mulonda from the Constitutional Court of Zambia.
