Vice President Mutale Nalumango has refuted the perception that the judiciary under the United Party For National Development UPND lacks autonomy.

Mrs. Nalumango says these perceptions stem from the fact that the judges are appointed by the president but was quick to mention that even if that is the fact, the judges do not work under anyone’s instruction.

The Vice President was responding in parliament this morning to Lundazi Member of Parliament Brenda Nyirenda who wanted to find out why the judiciary is only tabling cases that comprise the opposition especially those involving Former President Edgar Lungu and his family.

And in her response, the Vice President clarified that nobody is interfering in the operations of the judiciary and if any parties are aggrieved, they should just gather enough evidence to defend the cases in the courts of law.
