Government Sets Aside Funds For Maize Importation To Stabilize Food Supply

Government has called for collective efforts from all stakeholders to address the ongoing drought crisis and ensure preparedness for a potential cholera outbreak.
Ministry of Health Permanent Secretary, Dr. George Sinyangwe represented by Director-Public Health and Research Dr. Bushimbwa Tambatamba has revealed that government has taken steps to responding to drought situation necessitating an allocation of K41.9 billion in the supplementary budget.
The permanent secretary further disclosed that government has set aside funds for maize importation to stabilize food supply as well as measures to prioritize service provisions such as drilling of boreholes among others to the most affected communities.
The PS was Speaking at the launch of the mid year budget analysis Report by the Zambia Institute for Policy Analysis and Research- ZIPAR.
