Government has renamed Longacres Mall to KK Mall in a tribute to Zambia’s first Republican President, Kenneth Kaunda.

Speaking at the renaming ceremony in Lusaka, President Hakainde Hichilema who was represented by Minister of Tourism Rodney Sikumba, urged citizens to view the renaming as a call to action, encouraging Zambians to uphold Dr. Kaunda’s vision of a united and prosperous nation.

Mr Sikumba also highlighted the collaborative effort between the Public Service Pensions Fund (PSPF) and the National Museums Board in making this tribute possible, with plans to add a statue and mini-exhibition of Dr. Kaunda within the mall to attract tourists and boost business.

National Museums Board Chairman, Alexander Mutali, thanked the PSPF for supporting the proposal, noting that the renaming is part of Zambia’s ongoing celebrations of KK at 100, serving as a lasting tribute to Dr. Kaunda’s contributions to Zambia’s peace and development.
