VEEP Calls For Action On Illicit Alcohol Consumption

Vice President W. K. Mutale Nalumango has called for a unified strategy to combat the rising crisis of illicit alcohol consumption.

Speaking at  the launch of the Coalition Against Illicit Alcohol in Lusaka, Mrs. Nalumango says government remains committed to issue of illicit alcohol consumption and has since emphasized the need for a collective action to protect public health and the nation’s future.

She has since expressed strong support for the initiative, highlighting its essential role in curbing illegal alcohol sales through regulatory measures. 

Meanwhile, Coalition Co-chair, Prof. Myriam  Sidibe says there is need  for an urgent systematic approach to address the crisis. 

She warned of the severe impact of illicit alcohol, particularly Junta, as it poses serious threat to Zambia’s social fabric and economic growth.

And Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Garry Nkombo has called for a resolution to address the growing issue which includes addiction before further damage is caused.
