MUFULIRA RESIDENTS PROTEST ALLEGED UNFAIR MEALIE-MEAL PURCHASE RESTRICTIONS

Over 300 residents from Murundu, Minambe, and Mokambo areas in Mufulira district on the Copperbelt have accused Mufulira District Commissioner-DC- Saboi Kabika of stopping them from buying mealie-meal from the Central Business District-CBD-.
The residents, who gathered at Zambia National Service (ZNS) Minambe Checkpoint along Mokambo road, voiced their grievances to Mafken FM radio,
they argue that it is unjust to be associated with smuggling activities when their sole intention is to acquire the commodity for personal consumption.
But, Mufulira District Commissioner Saboi Kabika has dispelled the allegations.
In an exclusive interview with Mafken FM radio, disclosed that the residents were recently advised to buy mealie-meal on Monday and Friday, but it was discovered that some people in those days were buying mealie meal to smuggle into the Democratic Republic of Congo-DRC.
The District Commissioner-DC laments that, individuals accusing her are allegedly sponsored by politicians wanting to create a bad impression, that government has neglected its people.
