INCREASE IN PROSTITUTION IN MUFULIRA DISTRICT VEXES SENIOR CITIZEN

A Senior Citizen of Mupambe area in Mufulira district on the Copperbelt has expressed concerned over the rampant increase of prostitution in the area involving young women.
The resident who spoke on condition of anonymity tells Mafken FM radio that the situation has gotten out of hand, in that, the young women are the ones following men around and asking for money in exchange for sexual favours.
She has appealed to relevant authorities to look into it and rectify the problem as soon as possible before more young women conform to the vice.
And, Reverend Hendie Bwalya of SWORD Ministries in Mufulira says it is saddening that young women are involved in such immoral behaviour.
The Reverend has implored a quick intervention by the relevant authorities to find out the root cause of the matter.
Meanwhile, Young Women’s Christian Association –YWCA– Copperbelt regional coordinator, Sharon Chisanga has attributed the problem to family guidance.
Mrs. Chisanga says family plays a key role in guiding young women in good morals, adding that it is saddening that most families have developed a non-intervention attitude in guiding those involved.
She further notes that most of these women are living alone and fending for themselves without any moral Guidance.
