LANMAN INVESTMENT EMPLOYEES BEMOAN NON PAYMENT OF SALARIES
Written by Mafken FM Newsroom on 10 August 2023
A group of disgruntled workers from Lanman Investment Limited, which has been sub-contracted by Mulonga Water Supply and Sanitation Company to dig shallow trenches for vital water pipeline installation, stormed Mafken FM Radio yesterday voicing their grievances over unpaid salaries since June, 2023.
One of the workers, Moses Kanja has disclosed that some of the workers are not residents of Mufulira, and the company provided accommodation which is not conducive for them, adding that, they have no access to clean drinking water or decent meals.
Another worker, Norris Mwape, has lamented that he has been unable to take care of his family due to lack of payment of wages by his employee.
Meanwhile, one of the supervisors leading a team from Mwinilunga, Rowlings Kanema has confirmed that the workers have not been fully paid since they commenced work in June.
Another Supervisor, Jonathan Zulu, says the company’s working conditions are not good, stressing that, a quick intervention is needed as their line of work involves the use of dangerous tools.
And, efforts to get a comment from Lanman Investment Limited proved futile by broadcast time as they said they were busy.
