GOVERNMENT TO REVEAL MOPANI COPPER MINE INVESTOR BEFORE 31ST JULY, 2023

Government has disclosed that an investor for Mopani Copper Mine will be revealed in the next few days, before 31st July, 2023.

Speaking during a press conference in Lusaka yesterday, monitored by Mafken FM radio, Mines and Mineral Resources Minister, Paul Kabuswe says, ever since Glencore left, government has been running a process of selecting an investor that will take over the running of the mine.

Mr Kabuswe who was flagged by leaders of Mining Unions says government has seemed to take long on the selection process because they want to get a deal that will benefit the people of Zambia immensely.

Meanwhile, Mr Kabuswe says government had ten issues they had to sort out with Vedanta over issues surrounding Konkola Copper Mines –KCM- and are now just remaining with one issue which will be sorted out in the next few days.

The Minister says he cannot reveal the exact details of the matter, stressing that, he is positive that it will also be sorted out soon before the end of July, 2023.
