7,000 HEALTH CENTRE KITS ARRIVE IN THE COUNTRY

Government has announced the arrival of 7,000 health centre kits as part of the 42,000 procured health centre kits to last for a year.
In a speech read for her by Health Permanent Secretary for Administration Christopher Simoonga during the official receipt and flag off ceremony at the Zambia Medicines and Medical Supplies Agency-ZAMMSA- offices in Lusaka, Health Minister Sylvia Masebo says the development is symbolic of government’s commitment to providing essential healthcare services across the country.
Ms. Masebo has further disclosed that the distribution of the items is scheduled to commence today, 30th June, 2023 in line with the ZAMMSA Act of 2019.
She says the move will significantly stabilize the medicines and medical supplies in the country and that it is part of government’s strategy to implement universal health.
Ms. Masebo has also warned against pilferage of the essential health commodities throughout the supply chain.
She further revealed that the Agency has embarked on the procurement process of over 60,000 health center kits under the 2023 drug budget.
The event was witnessed by different government officials and some Members of Parliament from the opposition parties.
And PF Area Member of Parliament for Isoka, Marjorie Nakaponda who is also Parliamentary Vice Chairperson for Committee on Health, Community and Social Development, has expressed happiness at the arrival of the health center kits, stating that it will benefit the citizens.
Ms. Nakaponda has congratulated government through the Ministry of Health for ensuring the procurement of essential medicines and medical supplies.
