Load shedding To Minimise by June 2025

Chief government spokesperson Cornelius Mweetwa says Load shedding is likely to diminish by June 2025.

 

Mr. Mweetwa who is also minister of information and media says this is because it takes three months for water to move from the Zambezi basin to Kariba Dam.

The Minister of Information and Media and Chief Government Spokesperson  Hon. Cornelius Mweetwa, MP, today held a press briefing in Choma where he  discussed a number of issues among them the following: -

Speaking during a media briefing in Lusaka, Mr. Mweetwa stated government has made tremendous progress in addressing the contamination of water caused by the mines on the Copperbelt.

 

He however revealed that the situation is not as serious as it was initially as levels of contamination have reduced.

 

And Mr Mweetwa says government expects the Media Institute for Southern Africa MISA to be professional and balanced in the way it renders advice.

 

The minister was reacting to a statement were MISA Zambia expressed disapproval of the recent statements regarding the potential introduction of statutory media regulation by government.

 

He said government has no intention of gagging the media but gag those that are not professional.
