Family of Mufulira’s 13-Year-Old Girl Shot by Police Demands Government Support

The family of 13-year-old Bukata Bunda, who was accidentally shot in the leg by police in Kantanshi Township, Mufulira, on Sunday, February 22, 2025, says her condition remains critical and requires urgent government intervention.
Bukata’s father, Clifford Kunda, has expressed disappointment over the lack of response from government officials, stating that no one has visited the family or offered any support since the incident occurred.
Mr. Kunda also revealed that the family has rejected medical recommendations for Bukata’s leg to be amputated, insisting that the government should explore alternative treatments to save her limb.
Meanwhile, he has criticized the police for remaining silent on the matter, saying they have not taken responsibility or provided any update on the officer involved in the shooting.
