Community Action Against Corruption Chief executive Officer Brightone Tembo has welcomed the arrest of Chawama Member of Parliament Tasila Lungu for possession of properties suspected to be proceeds of crime.

However, the organization has urged the Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) to apply the same energy and motivation to pursuing corruption cases involving individuals close to the current regime.

Tasila Lungu, daughter of former President Edgar Lungu, has been on the DEC’s wanted list for money laundering activities.

Her arrest is seen as a significant step in the fight against corruption, but Community Action Against Corruption is cautioning against a selective approach to tackling corruption.

Mr Tembo further emphasized that a genuine fight against corruption must not be selective and must treat all individuals equally before the law, regardless of their status or affiliation.

Mr Tembo says as the case against Tasila Lungu unfolds, Community Action Against Corruption will be watching closely to ensure that justice is served and that the fight against corruption remains impartial and effective.
