UMUZ Concerned Over Relaxation Of Safety Regulations By Mining Companies

The United Mines Workers Union of Zambia – UMUZ has warned mining companies against easing up on Mines Safety Regulations which is that is resulting in the loss of lives for miners.
Union President Wisdom Ngwira says some mining companies are taking advantage of the government’s flexibility towards the mine Safety regulations to make profit paying less concerns to the wellbeing of their employees.
Mr.Ngwira has raised the concerns following the recent accident at Rongxing Investment Limited where a 25 year old miner died after being exposed to acid.
The Union leader has since called on the government through the Mine Safety Department to up its game in ensuring that mining companies abide to the Mine Safety Regulations in order to prevent accidents.
