United Kwacha Alliance UKA member Saboi Imboela says the Petauke victory by the Tonse alliance is a win for the opposition too because the UPND has been constantly wining by elections which is somewhat worrying for the country’s democracy.

Speaking on Mafken FM’s Xpress Chit chat Program, Ms. Imboela who is also National Democratic Congress leader says the UPND have been using the power of incumbency to win by elections but unfortunately their tactics could not work in Petauke.

She says despite the UPND employing dubious means to win the Petauke by election, they lost the election because the people of Petauke like many others are tired of being lied to especially those living in the urban areas who are able to feel the pinch of the economy.

And the opposition leader has bemoaned the tribal elections that are mostly exhibited during elections. She has warned campaign teams to avoid campaigning in tribal lines ahead of the 2026 elections emphasising that tribalism is a barrier to unity and development.
