TIZ Urges Independence Of Auditor General’s Office To Strengthen Public Finance Management

Transparency International Zambia (TIZ) has urged government to strengthen the office of the auditor general in order improve issues of public financial management in the country.

 

TIZ executive director Morris Nyambe says the office of the auditor general also needs to be independent for it to carry out its mandate effectively.

Speaking in Lusaka at the close of an investigative training workshop for journalists on public finance management, Mr. Nyambe said journalists are key stakeholders in shaping perception on issues relating to the use of public resources in the country.

 

He urged the media to take a leading role in advancing the cause of good public finance management in order to ensure accountability in public offices.
