Copperbelt Deputy Information and Publicity Secretary Godfrey Kamangu has congratulated the Tonse Alliance on what he described as unexpected win in the Petauke Central Parliamentary by election, which was previously held by fugitive Lawmaker Emmanuel Jay Banda.
Speaking in an interview with Mafken news, Mr. Kamangu acknowledged that the UPND’s loss in Petauke serves as a wake-up call for the party to introspect and identify areas for improvement.
Mr. Kamangu has noted the need to take serious introspection and establish where the party went wrong in Petauke and make amends.
Meanwhile, Mr Kamangu has expressed gratitude to the people of Mpongwe district, particularly in Ntanda ward, for ensuring that the UPND retain the seat, with the party’s candidate, Gladys Kangumu, emerging victorious with 445 votes.
