Why are Perm Secs mostly cadres, not technocrats?' UPPZ leader, Chanda, calls for urgent civil service reforms | Zambia Monitor

Mr. Chanda tells Mafken news that, the disparity in salary practices between political appointees and civil servants, fuels corruption within government structures.

He has  highlighted the plight of dedicated civil servants who have spent decades in service, only to remain in financial hardship.

However, Mr. Chanda has questioned the fairness of a system where civil servants can serve for 20 years without acquiring a single asset, while political appointees amass considerable wealth overnight.

He further lamented on the severe financial constraints faced by police officers and nurses, despite their vital roles in society, hence the need for a system that values their contributions and compensates them fairly.
