Butondo Ward Councilor Reuben Mukangwa has attributed the delay in the rehabilitation of Butondo Market to the persistent heavy rainfall the district has been experiencing.

The project, initially expected to be completed within three months, has been delayed by the ongoing downpours, making construction works difficult and at times impossible.

Mr. Mukangwa tells Mafken News that the continuous rain has waterlogged the site, hindering the movement of materials and slowing down the pace of construction.

The civic leader has acknowledged the inconvenience the delay is causing to marketeers and residents, stating that the contractor and the council are working diligently to mitigate the impact of the weather and to resume work at full capacity as soon as conditions improve.

Meanwhile, Mr. Mukangwa has urged Butondo residents to continue supporting the council’s initiatives and to remain patient as they work through the challenges posed by the weather, expressing confidence that once completed, the upgraded Butondo Market will be a source of pride for the community.
