As the country celebrates the 12 percent increase in its Copper production, the National Union of Mines and Allied Workers – NUMAW has urged mining companies to better the conditions of service for miners.
Union President Soul Simujika says an increase in production should not only benefit company owners but also the miners who are in the front line of production.
He says as the country expects to increase its copper production up to a million tonnes per annum this year, salaries for miners should also be revised upwards.
Mr.Simujika has also encouraged mining companies not to compromise the safety of their workers in their aim to increase production.
