Lusaka’s Simon Mwewa Lane Traders Complain Of Alleged Corruption In Market Space Allocation

Some traders of Lusaka’s Simon Mwewa lane market, have expressed shock at the new charges allegedly announced to them by some unscrupulous people.
Angela Phiri a trader is appealing for consideration of traders who have been trading from streets awaiting for the completion of the market.
Ms. Phiri complains that traders who are affiliated to the ruling party are allegedly asking others to pay fifty Kwacha for checking the list and K3000 which she has failed to comply.
Another trader who spoke on grounds of anonymity told Mafken news that the operation by Lusaka city council police of pursuing vendors has resulted in loss of goods.
Meanwhile Lusaka city council public relations manager Chola Mwamba in a telephone interview with Mafken news denounced the accusations.
