Human Rights Commission Calls For Concerted Efforts To Address Challenges Facing The Justice Delivery System

The Human Rights Commission has urged government and other stakeholders to immediately address the challenges facing the justice delivery system.
Commission Chairperson Dr. Pamela Sambo says such should be done in a more holistical and sustainable manner. Dr Sambo said this during a media briefing in Lusaka.
She stressed that doing so will ensure that focus is not only on selected cases of individuals but caters a broader aspect of the entire citizenry.
Dr. Sambo notes many many people in Zambia are facing depravation of human rights and access to justice on account of historical system failures within the criminal justice delivery process.
In another development, Dr. Sambo announced that in a move aimed at capacitating the commission, government has granted the treasury authority to the commission to employ to employ 16 additional members of staff.
She stated that the move will enhance its oversight role on implementation of the ATI act.
