Motorbike riders in Lusaka are calling for government intervention to address challenges posed by mobile application services that they say have negatively impacted their business.

Speaking to Mafken News, the riders expressed concern over the low charges offered by these apps, which they argue have made it difficult for them to compete fairly.

Michael Banda, a concerned rider, appealed to the Ministry of Transport and Logistics to step in and protect them from what he described as exploitation by both motorbike and app owners.

He stressed the need for regulations to ensure a level playing field for all riders.

Emmanuel Choonya, another rider, pointed out that many riders work informally, lacking job security and access to benefits.

Detroit Mubita, also a rider, urged his fellow colleagues to adhere to road regulations, particularly regarding highway conduct and traffic lights, to ensure their safety and professionalism.
