Mufulira’s Chibolya Residents Struggle With Water Shortage Since 2021

Residents of Chibolya in Mufulira District on the Copperbelt Province, are raising concerns about a severe water shortage in their area.

Mary Mwansa a resident of chibolya unveiled to Mafken News that the last time they had water was in 2021, and since then, their situation has not improved.

 

Ms. Mwansa has urged government to take action and resolve the water crisis faced by Mufulira residents, noting that they are unsure of how safe the current source of water they using is.

Another resident Albert Mutale highlighted the difficulties in accessing water, stating that the nearest borehole is too far and cannot accommodate the entire community’s needs. 

 

Also, John Kaunda mentioned that the government provided a water tank, but it has only been filled twice since its arrival while the said water remains untreated. 

 

He has appealed for clean water to be supplied to the tank to ensure the health and safety of residents is preserved.
