Beneficiaries of the drought fund and social cash transfer in Kwacha’s Ipusukilo ward in Kitwe District on the Copperbelt have accused their Community Welfare Assistance Committee-CWAC- Chairperson Jacob Chimanga of soliciting K800 from them.

The beneficiaries claim they are being forced to part with a portion of their funds, and some have expressed frustration over delays in receiving their money.

The Beneficiaries allege that Chimanga’s actions have caused them undue stress and financial hardship.

But when confronted, CWAC Chairperson Jacob Chimanga has denied the allegations raised against him, stating that he has been conducting his work in accordance to the expectations of the people.

However, the situation escalated as elderly men and women queuing up to collect their funds revealed that a young lady beneficiary confronted and threatened to beat them up if they happened to collect the funds before her.

Meanwhile, Ipusukilo ward councillor Evans Swaba has intervened, visiting the centre to address the situation. Mr. Swaba assured beneficiaries that everything is under control and measures will be taken to prevent similar incidents.
