Over one thousand two hundred hectares of maize field in Kalulushi district have been affected by the fall army worm.
The affected maize fields belong to over five thousand farmers from the 12 agricultural camps in the district.
District Agricultural Coordinator Davies Kaboboto says the district has so far received 420 liters of chemicals to combat the fall army worm.
Speaking during the field visitation in ichimpe agricultural camp, Mr Kaboboto says the chemicals received will cover over 500 hectares in the district.
He has encouraged farmers to continue monitoring then pest infestation and be able to apply minimum intervention through buying of chemicals which are not expensive.
And acting senior agricultural officer Nancy Chileshe says extension officers should ensure affected farmers benefit from the chemicals being distributed.
