As the District Mufulira celebrates the looming opening of new mines, a concerned resident Stanley Mbetela has appealed to government to ensure that mining companies prioritize employing the locals once the mines are operational.
Mr. Mbetela says the investment in the district will not have value if the locals remain unemployed.
He has noted that in most cases mining companies employ a big number of people from other places side-lining the locals who are qualified.
More than four new mines are expected to be opened among them is Mokambo and Chilibwe mines.
